SynopsisBST is proud to present
Rabbit Hole, a stunning, poignant and humorous play by award winning
playwright David Lindsay-Abaire. Becca (Anjanett Hawk-Johnson) and Howie
(Vincent Raye) are struggling to regain their lives after a tragic accident has
turned their world upside down. Eight months after their 4-year-old son Danny
was hit by a car, the couple find themselves drifting perilously apart. Each is
at a different stage in their grieving process. Becca seems to want to rid the
house of any memory of Danny while Howie wants to obsessively hold on to
anything he can.
Despite the tragic circumstances, their journey through grief
is often filled with humor and laughter. Becca’s younger sister Izzy (Stephanie
Byars) is a very outspoken free spirit whose unconventional antics bring a
breath of fresh air into their lives. Equally outspoken and opinionated is their
mother Nat (Rita Heizer) who has her own views of life and death. Ultimately,
the family’s healing may come through the most unlikely person. Becca forms an
unexpected friendship with Jason (Stephen Seder), the teenager who was driving
the car that killed Danny. An aspiring science fiction writer, Jason gives Becca
and Howie a copy of his story which he dedicated to Danny. He shares his idea on
a little-known astro physics theory that affects Becca profoundly.
It is ironically the boy who was a part of their darkest
hours who may be the key to bringing them all back into the light of day.
Rabbit Hole, the Pulitzer Prize winner of 2007, is an exceptionally well
written play that explores the grief, pain and even humor of people faced with
an unimaginable situation and captures their capacity for perseverance and
redemption. It is also being made into a movie starring Nicole Kiddman that will
be released sometime next year. Rabbit Hole has very strong and possibly
offensive language and adult situations and may not be appropriate for sensitive
audience members. Tickets go on sale to season ticket holders on December 9th
and go on sale to the general public on December 16th. Tickets prices are $16
for adults and $12 for students. Don’t miss this brilliant play.
